Our Practice

Different Matters.
A Common Thread.

Smith Foster King represents individuals and businesses in a wide range of disputes. Our lawyers have handled hundreds of cases involving serious injury and wrongful death, employment discrimination and retaliation, abuse and neglect, medical malpractice, and complex business litigation.

Complex disputes do not always respect the boundaries between practice areas. Neither does our experience. Our team brings perspectives shaped in courtrooms and classrooms, in workplaces and boardrooms, and through years of representing people and businesses in very different circumstances. Those perspectives help us see connections, understand the larger context, and find the thread that brings a case into focus.

That perspective matters when the facts are complicated and the consequences are real. We take the time to understand what happened, what matters to our client, and how the pieces fit together. From there, we build the case.

Our Approach

Understand the Case. Then Build It.

The work changes with each case. One may turn on medicine or science. Another may involve a business transaction, a farming operation, a tragic accident, or highly technical facts. We often visit the scene, examine physical evidence, review records, recreate events, and spend time with our clients. Seeing the places and people involved can reveal things the records alone cannot.

We work as a team from the beginning. Our lawyers, staff, and experts bring different perspectives to the table, question assumptions, and look for better ways to develop and present the evidence. Throughout that process, we keep the client at the center of the work and never lose sight of the people behind the case.

Every case begins with understanding what happened. Tell us what brought you here. We'll listen, ask questions, and help you understand the issues, your options, and what may come next.
