About Alina Mal
From Medical Interpreter to Trial Advocate
Alina is a graduate of Lewis & Clark Law School whose path to becoming a lawyer began with her work as a Romanian medical interpreter. In hospitals and clinics throughout Oregon and Washington, she helped patients and families navigate difficult and often high-stakes situations. That experience taught her how to listen carefully, stay steady under pressure, and make sure the people relying on her felt heard.
Her work as an interpreter also gave Alina an early view of how serious mistakes can affect patients and their families. Those experiences ultimately led her to law school and plaintiffs' litigation.
At Lewis & Clark, Alina focused on trial advocacy and earned a Certificate in Litigation & Advocacy Skills with distinction. She competed nationally on the mock trial team, gained courtroom experience at the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, received the Best Oral Advocate award, and was inducted into the Order of the Barristers.
Outside the office, Alina enjoys traveling, cooking, and playing board and card games. She has visited more than 40 countries and when she isn't exploring a different part of the world she enjoys spending her free time with her husband, family, and friends.
